Yes — for the tax year you bought. Each tax year gets its own edition because tax law changes every year. You're buying the 2025 edition now. It files your 2025 returns (late, amended, on time) forever. To file 2026 returns next year, you'll need the 2026 edition — existing owners get 25% off, and your prior-year .airgap file imports with one click to pre-fill the new return.
Air-gapped means physically isolated from the network. AirGapTax runs entirely on your computer with zero telemetry. All tax computation is local. If you opt in to external AI backends (Groq, Ollama, or a custom endpoint), only chat messages are sent to the service you configure. Your tax data never touches our servers.
No — and that's the point. AirGapTax generates a complete, IRS-ready paper filing packet that you print, sign, and mail. Mailing a paper return is the most private way to file: nothing is transmitted to the IRS, to us, or to anyone else. E-file inherently sends your return over the network, which is the opposite of what air-gapped software is for, so we don't do it. (If we ever offer e-file, it will be a clearly-labeled, optional add-on for people who want it — never the default, and never something that touches the air-gapped product's promise.)
It depends on your tier. Complete includes 1 state, Pro includes 3, Elite includes 5 (each "when available" — we ship states in waves). If you need more, additional states are $19 each. State tax software is the most expensive, bug-prone surface in any tax product — we'd rather charge for it honestly than bundle "all 50 states" into a sticker price.
Yes. For $149 add-on (included free with Elite), an independent licensed CPA in our partner network reviews your return before you file. Useful for complex crypto/DeFi years, RSU exits, multi-state moves, or first-time self-employment. The CPA never sees your raw data unless you explicitly grant access — the review happens on a summary packet you generate locally.

After purchase, your license key is emailed to the address you provide at checkout. Enter it in the AirGapTax app during setup. Keys work offline — no internet required to activate after first use.
